February 2004 newsletter
Thanks to Avista Our thanks to Avista Corporation for their commitment to business and job growth in Spokane's low-income areas with their financial contribution to SNEDA. Phone Eric Loewe at 444-7633 for information on supporting SNEDA's work.
SNEDA's February profile: Cd'A Metals Growing in a shrinking industry From satellite dishes tracking NASA probes on Mars to the Bloomsday runner statues that adorn Riverfront Park, Cd'A Metals has developed diverse projects and changed with the times. The century-old firm, which shapes and bends metal into boat bottoms, machine parts, staircase railings and just about anything else customers need, employs about 60 people. At a time when similar companies are struggling, Cd'A Metals plans to hire a few more employees in the coming months. more>
Get advice on finding and landing government contracts There are still slots available to meet one-on-one with an expert in obtaining government contracts. Johan Curtiss, who has partnered with SNEDA to provide procurement advice to 33 Spokane companies since July, will meet with Spokane businesses on Jan. 28. Curtiss will listen to your needs and answer questions about how to better position yourself for government work. If you're interested in meeting with her, contact Angie Huang at 444-7633 or angiehuang@sneda.org.

Perhaps just as important, SJF has provided job and life-skills training to lower-income people to help fill the jobs they create. more>
Editor's Note: There was no January SNEDA newsletter because starting in 2004 we have decided to date the newsletter for the upcoming month. Under our old dating policy, this newsletter would have been dated for January. This month's picture was provided by Cd'A Metals.
