SNEDA accepts $250,000 to loan to nonprofits
SNEDA officials have begun considering proposals for projects that would sprout from a new fund created with a Banner Bank investment.
Banner offered SNEDA $250,000 in March. The money will be loaned to organizations to create affordable housing, community services, economic development and programs that revitalize low or moderate income areas in Washington. SNEDA's board officially accepted Banner Bank's investment in April.
SNEDA, a Community Development Financial Institution, is applying for federal funds to match Banner Bank's investment. CDFIs are eligible to apply for U.S. Treasury funding, which often requires matching funds. SNEDA is the only CDFI in the Spokane region and one of only 15 in Washington.
Grow your business with government contracts
M&L Mechanical already does work for local governments. Now the heating and air conditioning company would like to expand its reach to obtain state and federal contracts as well.
To help meet that goal, M&L Owner Marc Ellis recently met with Johan Curtiss, a procurement expert who manages the Southwestern Washington Business Information Center in Richland. SNEDA brings Curtiss to Spokane monthly to meet one-on-one with business owners who want to learn more about how to find and land government contracts. more>
