SNEDA works to bring investment to Hillyard
Market Street Market (MSM) in Hillyard generated thousands of dollars in sales tax revenue for the City of Spokane and brought more than 1,000 people into the Hillyard business district at a one-weekend car auction in August.
SNEDA and MSM, 5906 N. Market, are working on a business plan that will create similar economic success stories and stimulate job growth in the neighborhood.
The business plan will be used to apply for federal and Ford Foundation grant money that SNEDA would use as a business loan to Market Street Market Inc. to expand its operations to support more vendors and jobs. more>
AmeriCorps member will continue to serve at NRF
Tesia Walsky's term with AmeriCorps ends this week, but that won't stop her from helping to create affordable housing in eastern Washington.
Walsky has been hired by Northwest Regional Facilitors - where she performed her AmeriCorps service - to a full-time position. During her year at NRF, Walsky completed house inspections, design work for new affordable housing and other tasks aimed at increasing home ownership in Spokane.
Walsky has proven in her year of service that she has the skills and abilities needed by NRF, said Chris Venne, NRF's director of community based initiatives. more>
