SNEDA receives a federal award of $250,000 to create jobs and self-employment opportunities in Hillyard
Spokane Neighborhood Economic Development Alliance (SNEDA) received notice Monday, October 4, of a federal grant award of $250,000 from the US Department of Health and Human Services - Office of Community Services to create jobs and business opportunities in the Hillyard neighborhood. This was one of only four awards made this year in the national public markets competition.
The funds are to be used by SNEDA to purchase equity in and lend to Market Street Market, Inc., a business in the Hillyard neighborhood in Spokane, in order to enable Market Street Market to realize its potential for job and business creation. Market Street Market (MSM) is a public market that is creating jobs and self-employment opportunities for low - to - moderate income people in the Hillyard neighborhood.
Our thanks to our Congressional delegation of Senator Murray, Senator Cantwell and Congressman Nethercutt, Mayor West and the State Department of Transportation's Mr. Lentz for the great support we received from them.
